What is low-level laser therapy for hair loss?
Low level laser therapy (LLLT) is also called red light therapy, cold laser, soft laser and biostimulation and photomodulation. It is used to treat genetic hair loss or pattern balding.
It was originally developed in Europe to improve hair volume and quality, to prolong the life of hair color and perms.
It is an FDA cleared low level “soft” laser that uses light to stop hair loss, and prevent future hair loss. The laser light is delivered directly to the scalp to give you the thicker, fuller and healthier looking hair you want.
What does it do?
It improves the peri-follicular environment by up-regulating the expression of growth factors and signaling molecules for hair restoration. This treatment significantly improves hair count in men and women with androgenetic alopecia.
How does LLLT work?
LLLT is phototherapy to stimulate hair follicles to grow, by reviving dormant follicles, improving the environment in which they grow. LLLT also increases the length of the growth phase, and the number of follicles that enter the growth phase, and prevents premature death of the hair follicles.
It is safe and effective.
Before LLLT treatment, hair follicles are inactive, growing slowly and producing thin hair.
During LLLT treatment, the cells of the hair follicle soak up laser light, harnessing the energy to bolster cellular respiration and foster hair growth.
After LLLT treatment, dormant follicles are awakened from their inactive state and produce thicker, healthier, hair.
